Walter Radermacher joins Scientific Advisory Board

The Research Institute for Official and Survey Statistics (RIFOSS) is proud to announce that Walter J. Radermacher has joined the institute’s Scientific Advisory Board. After studying business administration in Aachen and Münster, Walter J. Radermacher started working at the Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis) in 1978, where he was in charge of setting up the German Environmental Economic Accounting (Umweltökonomische Gesamtrechnungen, UGR) during the 1990s. He was vice president of Destatis from 2003 through 2006, when he became the national statistical institute’s president. Staying in official statistics, Walter J. Radermacher was appointed Director General of the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) in 2008 and headed Eurostat until 2016. He started his Ph.D. studies at the Department of Statistical Sciences at La Sapienza Università di Roma in 2015 and will finish them in 2019. In 2017 he was appointed president of the Federation of European National Statistical Societies (FENStatS). RIFOSS welcomes Walter J. Radermacher and is looking forward to a fruitful cooperation!
